What CEM is up to?

Last week Climate Emergency Manchester’s Marc Hudson and Chloe Jeffries attended climate emergency meetings in Moss Side and Chorlton respectively. Both were interesting (and even occasionally inspiring). Their reports are here and here. The big questions remain – (how) will these ideas be accepted and implemented by the City Council’s leadership, which has thus far been uninterested in engaging with new ideas. Where is the money going to come from? And, also, what is happening in other 30 wards? (well, 29 – Chorlton Park is doing stuff too).
Are public meetings happening? Are councillors inviting interested people to attend who are not in the charmed circle of ‘reliable’ people?
If you know of other meetings, let us know. You could always contact your councillors and ask them what they are up to?

On Saturday 26th we had our first Away Day, and got much greater clarity on what we are aiming for, how we intend to do it, how we can support other groups and individuals. We are always keen to have new people get involved, at whatever frequency/depth they want. We need graphic designers, researchers, writers, Facebookers and well, just citizens– people who want their city to do more, faster, and are willing to engage constructively with elected politicians to make this more likely. You can contact us at contact@climatemergencymanchester.net
