New eco-garden in #Manchester @GRUBMCR #PlantPoweredSundays

Manchester’s award-winning street food fair GRUB have opened their brand new secret eco-garden to the public. The intriguingly hidden beer garden, which has been almost entirely built using recycled materials donated by customers, could be a great example of how indie businesses can still function under social distancing rules.

Screen Shot 2020-01-13 at 14.07.13.pngSituated just a 5 minute walk from Victoria Station in the upcoming Green Quarter, GRUB has been a staple of Manchester’s indie food scene for the last 5 years and this new addition to their venue already has heads turning. Invisible from the street, this hidden gem was built throughout lockdown and crowdfunded by the Manchester community. The transformed space has been designed specifically for the socially distanced eating and drinking of some of the UK’s finest craft beer and street food and has already been fully booked in its first two weekends since re-opening.

As Manchester and the rest of the UK face uncertain times for many of it’s independent venues, GRUB is offering a lifeline to the rest of the indie community. Jason Bailey, GRUB Director said, “Our ethos has always been to source as much as we can from indies. From the street food traders to the beer on our bar, customers can be assured that when they spend with GRUB, they’re supporting other indie businesses and it’s this trickle down effect into the community that Manchester’s indies need right now.”

Due to high demand, GRUB is now opening its doors to the secret garden six days a week from Tuesday to Sunday and includes regular events for all diets including #GFAF and #PlantPoweredSundays plus cocktail, food and other booze deals to enjoy in the festoon lit garden surrounded by pallet planters and DIY bobbins donated by Mancunians in GRUB’s ‘Craft for Craft’ scheme; donations of homemade bunting and birdhouses were rewarded with a refreshing pint of craft beer.

Starting from Tuesday the 21st of July, GRUB will be opening Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Thursdays 4pm – 10pm with a resident food trader (for July it’s Tikka Chance On Me). GRUB is also open 12 noon – 10pm on Fridays & Saturdays and 12 noon – 6pm on Sundays. You can reserve your table by going to www.grubmcr.com/tablebookings.
