Scrutiny Handbook launched – how to keep tabs on #Manchester City Council’s broken #climate promises

Manchester City Council is caught in an endless cycle of promises followed by lack of delivery.

There is a lack of precise, forensic scrutiny of lack of progress, especially on climate change.

We need to change this.

One way is by setting up a seventh scrutiny committee, dedicated to climate change. We are campaigning for that, through a petition.

Another way is to improve the number of people who have the skills and networks to scrutinise the Council.  Climate Emergency Manchester is doing this, and will do this more. One tool is a Scrutiny Handbook. Today we publish the first draft of this, as both a pdf and a word document.

We will, in response to comments and criticisms, radically improve it (email us your input – contact@climateemergencymanchester.net ).  We will also make it look a lot prettier (hello canva, our new friend).

For now, though, this will do #alwaysinbeta
