If you have things that you think should be in our Monday bulletin, please email us on contact@climateemergencymanchester.net

Climate Emergency Manchester news

The last week has largely (but not entirely) been about preparation for our appearance at the Resources and Governance Scrutiny Committee on Tuesday 9th February, where we will be explaining the rationale for last year’s petition for a seventh scrutiny committee. See our briefing paper here.

We produced a load of memes about what excuses members of the Committee might use for failing to act,  This helped core group members improve their meme-ing skills (something that is on most of our personal development plans, along with getting better at Freedom of Information Act requests – watch this space.

Tonight (Monday 8th) we hold our monthly online open meeting – email us on contact@climateemergencymanchester.net if you want the log-in details.

Council news

The agendas for this week’s Scrutiny Committee meetings are up – see our blog post summarising what is – and is NOT – on the agendas.

On Wednesday 10th at 2pm Neighbourhoods and Environment will spend probably about 40 minutes on climate change.  This is the first time the issue has been discussed since last July. A reminder – the city has burnt through a quarter of its carbon budget for the 21st century in the last 2 years. That inconvenient fact is nowhere in the truly awful “report” being presented to councillors – watch this space for our briefing paper about that..
