Climate Emergency Manchester news

In case you missed it – we kinda sorta won. Last Tuesday at Resources and Governance, various councillors – including the Leader-since-1896-Richard-Leese – were competing with each other to say how much they agreed that scrutiny of climate change needed to be better. We proposed a seventh scrutiny committee. It seems likely that instead there will be a rearranging of the existing six.  You can read our brief press release here, or read the annotated transcript here. See coverage from the Manchester Evening News and The Meteor.

We will be telling more about the recommendations journey towards full Council on Weds 31 March – and how you can help – soon.

As if that wasn’t enough, we also reported on all six of the scrutiny committee meetings, had a letter in the MEN and published a Dave Spart rant about the Manchester Science Festival.

This week we will report on the Art Gallery committee, no longer be aimless, and also publish an interview with the very important Wythenshawe Safespots charity (they are a domestic abuse support network). Other things will crop up too.
