Wait, did you not notice that on Wednesday July 10th Manchester City Council said the words you wanted to hear: climate emergency. They said they’d look at bringing the date forward – the Lib Dem amendment even used your precious 2030 date.  What’s the matter with you people? Why don’t you just declare victory and get on with your lives. Do you have Oppositional Defiance Disorder?

Yep, We know about the motion. We even live-tweeted it.  We’re still collecting signatures  – and you can sign online or download a sheet and sign it – because, in ascending order of importance

a) we said we would – we want the four thousand signatures

b) collecting signatures means we can have conversations with more people about the urgency of action, while gaining useful skills

and (drum roll please)

c) we want to force the debate about the Airport

d) there will be ongoing discussions about a 2030 target, with a report to Executive by the end of 2019.  The more visible public appetite/demand there is for a 2030 target, the more likely it is to be accepted by the City Council’s Executive is (or “less unlikely,” if you like).
