At the time of writing, we cannot find our own arses with both hands and a map – how organised is GMCA?

GMCA is the combined authority across all 10 local authority areas of Greater Manchester it is governed by Mayor Andy Burnham and a bunch of nominated councillors. There’s also a load of civil servants (how many, who knows) and some of them are fairly senior and paid a fair wedge to do whatever they’re meant to do. As they are publically funded and we have no idea who they are beyond the chief exec, how do we (being citizens of GM) hold them to account? Accountability is a climate solution so knowing who should be accountable is part of that.

We asked the question and got the response below… To us it translates to “at the time of writing, we cannot find our own arses with both hands and a map”. Do let us know if or when you come across the actual organisational chart when they manage to magic one up…

In the meantime, if you’d like to know more about how to construct similar requests for information from public bodies to hold power to account, you could sign up to join us on Tue 17 May at 18:30 at Patagonia.
