With raised awareness of #BlackLivesMatter we consider how these deals with the US and others could impact people both here and in the Global South.
Speakers:
Dorothy Grace Guerrero: Head of Policy and Advocacy at Global Justice Now. She currently focuses on corporate accountability, climate change, migration, trade and investment and other related economic justice concerns. She is originally from the Philippines and has previously worked with the Transnational Institute (TNI), and African Women Unite Against Destructive Resource Extraction (WOMIN)
Dr. Andy Higginbottom (Kingston University London): an international solidarity campaigner as well as an academic. He is active in support of social movements in Colombia, South Africa and Eelam Tamils.
He takes a general interest in movements fighting extractivism, neocolonialism and oppression. He is currently researching the theorisation of US cotton slavery and British industrial capitalism, and teaching modules on international political economy, slavery and emancipation, and crimes of the powerful.
